A truly high-quality, versatile and easy-to-use machine.

Excellent quality from one of the worlds premier dive computer manufacturers. Full of features, options and customisations, I particularly like to security of two straps.

The Shearwater Perdix AI seems to have become the de facto standard in technical diving. I have used mine during 13 dives when completing PADI TEC50 and full trimix and so far I have had no issues. The Perdix is not as user configurable as my Suunto Eon Core, I think that the bigger font size on the Eon Core makes the Core easier to read, and I prefer the Core's three buttons to the Perdix' two buttons. However, I believe that the Perdix can show you more important detailed information during the dive. Also, as far as I can understand the Core can not be upgraded to support the Buhlmann 16C algorithm. (Only the Eon Steel seems to be upgradable at an extra cost and possibly high extra hidden costs for repairs that Suunto think are necessary when they do the SW upgrade.) So, as the two tec instructors I have had both recommend the Buhlmann algorithm and speak very badly of Suunto's RGBM algorithm (which I think is just from lack of experience), I am brought up in the Buhlmann 'world'. As I have bought MultiDeco dive planning SW, I can't use the Eon Core as a backup computer. I tried but the bubble model's earlier/longer first deco stop sent the Core into lockup when following the MultiDeco plan (even with deep stops disabled). For this reason I will most likely buy a second Perdix or Perdix AI and sell the Eon Core. The Core's limitation to 80 m disqualifies it from deep dives anyway and I think the Eon Steel is a bit chunky. I really like my Eon Core, but its limitations on a few key tec diving points make my sad decision to go double-Perdix an easy one. If you are only planning to do recreational diving, the Core is an excellent cheaper choice, but the Perdix / Perdix AI is just as good for recreational diving as for tec diving.

Shearwater is the "Rolex" of dive computers and as such does not disappoint... The Perdix in particular is more of an "advanced" dive computer for the experienced diver or for the rookie that plans to go beyond open water and wants to buy things once.... this computer is the only computer you will ever need.....well maybe a second one for redundancy ;)

I really like that it is so flexible in size and has a very good display.

Wonderful. Does everything I need it to do and the battery life is excellent. For future updates, I would suggest making the UI even more customizable using the desktop software and allowing the user to change the starting number for the dive count in the log.
