Very high-quality and sturdy hiking boots for demanding terrains. Has been tested even in bad rocks. Narrow last and small size: I normally have a size 43.5 foot, but these only fit a very thin sock in size 44. It would have been worth taking an even bigger size.

The boot is comfortable and strong, and it grips very well. However, I was disappointed that after only one hiking trip in rainy conditions, the rand around the boot started to come unstuck, and after the second trip, it had come unstuck in multiple places.

I got what I wanted and what I was used to. The previous Meindls lasted 24 years. We'll see how these go. Sturdy soles and stems, hard soles. Slippery on wet rocks, etc., but you can safely put your weight on the soles when climbing or descending steep slopes. You need a thick sock, otherwise some of the inner seams can rub. With confidence, I will go on a longer run with these in the fall.

Had the shoe with inner leather from 2018-2023. It's a little smaller but fits my feet perfectly. I've worn the shoe on conventional hikes (10-25km) on gravel, forest and meadow paths and for mountain tours into alpine terrain. Even for multi-day tours in the snow and rain, the shoe keeps you nice and warm and I survived every hike without blisters or pressure points. But after 5 years of constant use, I decided to buy the shoe again because I was extremely happy with it. It is well made, I only had to change the laces and glue the rubber protection in one place or another. 5 stars + buy recommendation

A very very robust boot, it is heavy compared to others I had, but that extra weight does not detract from its benefits but rather adds them. Tested in several tough mountain ascents, through a lot of rocky areas, brooms, mud and shallow snow, its behavior could not have been better. They are very comfortable, great insulation and warmth, but very good breathability, very good ankle support without reducing mobility. The sole grips rock, mud and snow perfectly, and keeps the foot insulated in moderate rain. An ideal boot for the mountains, perhaps heavy for smooth and flat hiking, without difficulty on the ground, but excellent behavior in hard and demanding ground conditions.

Good product from a quality brand. Rigid, ankle-protecting construction. One star comes from the fact that the other shoe has started to creak after approx. four years of use. Grease and care do not help, so the sound comes from the structure of the shoe. Therefore, I can no longer use this when hunting. It still works when hiking and commuting.

For years I have tried to fit my big feet (49EU) into substandard boots. The Meindl Island boots for me very well right of the box. I immediately put 40km on them hiking through challenging tereraine, mud and water. These boots are superb.

I've found the Meindl active boots to be great for everything and a top tip would be to keep them clean after every use

Really comfortable boots right from the box, I like the memory foam on the inside of the ankles as these boots were slightly taller than my previous boots. Sizing is excellent, they are very true to size. The boots have stability and strength through the sole and flex when put under pressure, I used these for light hiking and hunting and have found them excellent around the hills. The full rand gives me peace of mind when I am coming down scree knowing I'm not damaging the leather. I would gladly look at buying these again

My old Island Pro cracked in the midsole. I think they were from about 2005, so after about 17 years it was time to replace them. These were largely identical to the old ones. They had changed from fabric to leather at the top of the shaft. Otherwise I see no difference. It was just to step in, tie and go out. Sat nicely from the beginning and it does not feel like they need to go in at all. Took a 10km long forest walk the first time I used them and then I still have fragile feet that easily get abrasions. The only boot I found that is not Kalle-Anka-wide in the last but also works with my narrow feet. When I last bought boots, the boot fitter said "you can take any one that has a narrow reading. Everyone is still too wide for you." The size fits well with the table. I have UK 9 in most shoes and it fits well in Meindle Island and then with a sturdy sock.

Comfortable from the start and even more so after a couple of short walks. First time in a long time I had dry feet after a full day in some steep bush with only a very small rub on my heels.

Comfortable and stable boots that create a safe feeling when hiking. Started with a 21km hike in the mountains without problems or abrasions. My second couple, the first I had for 14 years.

Comfortable, easy to slip on boots with a great lacing system. I have a slightly wider food so these are a firm fit but still easy to wear. Good full depth tounge to keep water out. Waterproof out of the box but I did wax mine again just to make sure no water would soak in

This is my second pair of Meindl Island MFS Active GTX, best hunting boot I have every owned. I have just bought my mate a pair as well, he loves them. Varuste is great to deal with, 100% confidence in buying products off them and having them shipped to Australia.

These boots are awesome and arrived here in New Zealand in 2 weeks! Nothing better than good quality boots when hunting and working.

To start, I shipped these to Canada. It was (almost) seemless. No duties, just the provincial tax and the fee to FedEx for that service. Shipping was fast. The boots themselves are unreal. I am extremely happy with them. Water proof. Supportive. Tough. I went through some ice more than once up to and above ankle depth and my feet stayed dry. The memory foam is genius. I can't say enough about these boots. The B/C rating was stiffer than I expected but that's my inexperience, not an issue with Meindl or Varuste. Very very happy with everything. I've already recommended Varuste to friends.

Stable and fit on a normal foot, first tested wide but it was felt too big. As with all shoes and boots, they need to be worn, not ready yet but feel promising for a perfect fit. High quality design and function appealing to me. It would have received the last star if it was slightly cooler.

Very disappointed. Only after 3 uses of a few hours, and despite having maintained them rigorously (greased and waterproofed), the clip located in the center and at the top of the shoe is removed from the leather. These shoes were purchased against the MEINDL brand which for me was a quality product, and, it turns out, I am extremely disappointed. Top shoes, top features. Another pair just bought 12/2020. The previous pair grew their own legs out. There would still be years of service life left. The shoes are worn all year round, although they are at their best due to the stiffness of the sole when you carry a heavy load. Well maintained can take years.

Wonderful stable boot! Requires no short trips to get into the shoes. Put on double proper socks, then just tread on! Remember to add 1cm in size ... the double socks require it!

These are outstanding boots! Comfortable as soon as they formed to my feet. Super waterproof way up high. Warm, yet not bulky at all. Very aggressive tread. My only concern is the slight hassle of having to lace all the eyelets tight each time for them to really fit and perform well. But its worth it.

2nd pair the 1st lasted more than 8 years To keep the tongue in place, do the lacing (see some interesting tutorials on the internet) For maintenance I use Nikwax no waterproof problem Good grip, good stability, the only downside is the weight, but we know this in advance

Great medium stiff trekking boot fits me well with a medium wide forefoot high arch and narrow heal. Boots took about 100k to break in. Great waterproofing, support and grip. Boots are high which may take a bit of getting used to. Runs pretty true to sizeDelivery and price was great

Hanwag Tatra Widen's last was too narrow for me too narrow, now Meindl works well for my own foot. It is also stiff enough for hiking and supports the footbed in more difficult terrain + heavy loads. The color of the surface material is resistant to wear and dirt if scratching is not suitable for your own eye. The base does not seem to be replaceable, and in the same way, the tensioning of the straps works more competently on the bearings. On the stem, the attachment of the mountain to the outside could be more finished.

After 9 years and 4,000 miles, dare to give feedback. The soles on both shoes are worn out. The joint between the sole and the shoe is torn from another shoe. Water resistance in another intact shoe good. The inner lining is broken at the heels. The ribbons are original. I couldn’t have believed that any shoe would survive such a years-long endurance test. These survived with honor to the finish.

I have had a pair of Meindl boots for 18 years and still going. Incredible boots. I have hunted in the mountains in New Zealand and walked 000's of KMs in them. still going strong. I will be purchasing another pair.

Received my 3rd pair of Meindl’s Island boots within a week - in Australia - during COVID-19 👏 Fitting perfectly and walk away without any problem - just like the former pairs which I used each for at least 4years. Mostly during my often and long walks/hikes with our 2 border collies. I recommend these boots immensely - so happy with the service from Varuste.net - will order new ones in a couple of years! My son bought Icelanders and has been happy. My own shoes are already 18 years old and still in full swing even though the sleeve is long gone. Still hold well water. I greased regularly which is important. Suitable for both Lapland trips and mushroom trips to wet bogs, etc. for crossing streams. Really good.

These were used to print a week-long mountain hike around Arm. Although the platform was between damn fields and day trips around ~ 25km, there was no bladder bladder in my feet. Definitely shoes worth recommending.
