Very sturdy bag that has an excellent finish. Its modular spirit is appreciable for those who wish to personalize the locations of the pockets thanks to the soft hooks. The aluminum frame provides great stability once all straps are adjusted. Very non-material for those who want to keep their equipment for life.

An excellent carrier when you have to bring a lot of stuff with you. With this backpack you can hike for several weeks lightly.

The best thing you can do with money is not be able to break this backpack with use.

I bought a newer LJK Modular Backpack to replace the old one, which I still didn't dare give up. In the old LJK backpack it has served well and will continue to serve, the side pockets are made to slip behind them, for example Rosell's hiking loop with a long handle, which is at least the best hiking ax for me, and behind the other pocket, Gerber Freescape Camp proved to be excellent. Another thing I appreciate about the old LJK is the large pocket sewn on top of the lower compartment, which could hold, among other things, a camping stove and a pot / coffee pot combination. There was no danger, for example, that the fuel bottle would spoil the food. The only downside was that the lower tray was awkward to use. Durability in this case took precedence over comfort. But now it was a question of a new Modular. Excellent backpack. However, I missed the big pocket that would fit the kettle and utensils. And Savota didn't find a pocket big enough to fit my cook set. I had to resort to a small backpack made by another manufacturer, which I got attached to the flap at the bottom of the backpack, which in turn makes it a bit more difficult to use. That is, the benefit of a large front flap was wasted in this case. In this backpack I had to secure the hiking hook with the straps. The biggest advantage of this new backpack is its versatility. and I know I can modify it just the way I want it. Probably the best modular backpack ever, both in terms of performance and quality. However, I missed those old metal string locks!

For me (198cm, 95kg) is this the perfekt backpack. No propblem to carry 30kg even in difficult ascents. There is enough space in it for a big winter-sleepingbag. Everything is very strong and made for long use. This is finaly my "last" backpack.

After some days out in the German woods it is time to review the Savotta LJK Modular. I did pack it to something between 23kg and 30kg weight. Used the side pockets and attached my Dutch military Bivybag at the outside. As there were no real rain I can not comment on how it works during heavy rain, some drizzle did not cause an issue. My way to pack it is the sleeping bag in the top together with a 3 liter source water bladder and the rest of the gear is in the front loader pocket at the bottom. Yes I have a large sleeping bag, my body height is 1,98m and I do have a wide chest and upper back (workout in the gym works). What is causing the 4 star rating instead of the 5 star rating is the effort it takes to adjust the bag and the zipper smoothness. I had to try and to adjust for more than 5 times to come close to a perfect fit. The zippers are hard to operate at the front loader pocket and I hope it will become smother by the time. The clips are easy to use and the metal buckle at the waist band is perfect. All the adjustments are rouged and will last a long time, even with some abuse during a mission. The outer frame makes it easy to attach a cord to hang it at a tree when at the camp. As I did use it only in flat or smooth hilly environment I cannot comment how it works in a mountain mission.

Savotta has made a mistake by discontinueing this model. It is far superior to it's replacement Jaakari XL

An incredibly good backpack. No matter how heavily you pack it, it's like it saying "Is that all you got?!" Even the heaviest load are a pleasure to wear, even over long distances. The weight just kind of disappears and eventually you do not think about that you are carrying a backpack of 20 kg

At last a rucksack maker who refuses to bow to the modern internal frame rubbish. Well done on a proper big external frame pack.cf the British Infantry rucksack which sits above the belt kit and is MURDER to carry. Carry it close and carry it high, external frame cannot be beat for heavy loads.

I complained about the predecessor of that backpack in India at Ivalo RJK and if nothing else worked, then the backpack still kept itching. For myself, my knees broke up many times before the backpack even bit the cargo, which is why I then became your office backpack and the backpacks and woods were left behind for a while. The negative aspects of the six-month experience were mainly only the discomfort of the straps and hip belt and the lack of a chest strap. In addition, getting the goods packed to the bottom of the top bag was often a complete pain. For this reason, I decided to save a little longer and get a modular version, in which even some sort of solution to these problems has been invented on the savota side. Unfortunately, the top bag does not open with a zipper on top, but instead it can be opened from the bottom as long as it first opens the zippered flap of the bottom bag; I think a significant improvement. The straps are somewhat padded and the hip belt is much better. With the previous model, carrying 30-60 kg allowed you to prepare for bruises already after the first day, but this went in an experimental spirit when carrying 35 kg for three days before it started to feel uncomfortable and leave traces. In addition, a certain chest strap, which was not standard at least in Indian backpacks: one was then distributed there from loose straps or a patent was imported from a civilian. From my own experience, I would say that it is not worth getting this unless you are going to plant in the forest for a long time at a time. On a day trip or even a few days trip, the modular ljk is overkill, but each with its own style. However, one thing is certain about the device: if you get one, it is highly recommended (read: mandatory) to spend a few moments adjusting the device. I myself completely detached the bag part from the spine and tightened the pelvic and back ligaments again and set them up about a million times over and over again with trial & error tactics. After fine-tuning, it hardly needs to be done again in a lifetime because the backpack is likely to last that long. It should also be mentioned that after the adjustment, at least I myself did not feel a significant difference in comfort compared to the current anatomically shaped backpacks. The backpack is quite heavy in itself, so I would not recommend this as a first backpack for anyone. However, if there is a need for a reliable, lifelong partner in harsh conditions and intense hobby - here you go.

In India, that previous model served its purpose better, as well, somewhat Kolho, but very competent! i think this is the same thing!
