I use it mainly for caving. It's powerful and very simple to operate : the burly rotary switch is idiot-proof, glove-proof and mud proof. Clips very easily on my Petzl helmet. I haven't had it for long enough to comment on battery life, but I appreciate that having TWO batteries instead of three lets me use a regular charger that can only recharge an even number of batteries at once. A friend of mine dropped it from about 3 meters high on a rocky ground, and the lamp did not budge. However, because of its size and weight, the smaller Tikka will remain my main lamp for hiking.
