Rapala

It was the year 1905, when a baby boy was born to the Saarinen's poor family. The boy was named Lauri, and for some weird reason the church's papers got messed up in 1912 and the boys family name Saarinen got changed into Rapala. Well - this is the name which is very familiar these days to all anglers.

His first minnow was carved with his own hands from cork - this idea he'd got from an American wobbler he had. At the clear waters of Päijänne he made research and discovered, that the movement of a injured baitfish is more than interesting among the catch. The word of a fantastic minnow spread all over the town and soon Lauri needed to speed up the carving, as the local store made it's first order.
