Mammut is a Swiss multinational mountaineering and trekking company headquartered in Seon, Switzerland. The company was founded in 1862 by Kaspar Tanner in Dintikon. The company is world leader in terms of climbing ropes, together with German company Edelrid. Mammut has about 200 employees at its headquarters and runs many establishments all over the world. The central repository for Europe is in Memmingen, Germany, which has been expanded several times.

Kaspar Tanner laid the foundations of the company in 1862 with the establishment of his traditional ropeworks in Dintikon near Lenzburg. The Mammut Sports Group AG is now an innovative company which develops, manufactures and sells mountaineering, outdoor pursuits and snow sports products. The Mammut Sports Group AG includes the mountain sports equipment manufacturer Mammut, the shoe manufacturer Raichle and the ski wax and care experts, Toko. In addition to its central headquarters in Seon, Switzerland (since 1992), where around 200 people work, the Mammut group has branches and subsidiaries all over the world. An extensive network of agents handle global distribution.
